I can’t believe it’s already week 3 of 2024. How is it moving so fast? I’ve set aside this week for reading The Priory of the Orange Tree because its HUGE and I can’t keep putting it off. Since I DNF’ed my previous read I got a head start on my reading plans so I’m over 100 pages in going into this week. I’m glad I gave myself that buffer though. The beginning is difficult because of all the names of people and places being dropped. Eventually it makes sense and it’s easy to switch between them.
I do have a few plans this week, trying to be social and all that. And I have a few books that I’ve brought and keep forgetting to add into these posts. I need to remember to put those in to this update. Especially since I completely failed with my book buying ban. Oops.
It is Wednesday night and the end of my two days off. I have read no more of The Priory of the Orange Tree. I’ve hit a bit of a wall because I’m not as invested in some of the characters as others. Whenever their chapters come up, I don’t really want to pick up the book.
Tuesday, I could barely keep my eyes open. Book shopping was great, but it soon turned into everything shopping and I might be 26 but I need my midday nap on my days off. So I got home and slept.

I did reread one of my ebooks today so I got my pages in, and I’m hoping that tomorrow I’ll read more. I start work at 6am but that means early finish and reading time.
It is nearly the weekend and still no progress on The Priory. I’ve hit a wall…and it’s called exhaustion. I am so tired all the time at the minute. I finish at 4 today so plenty of evening reading time with a cup of tea, I hope. I think I’m going to go look for some reading sprints. They always help motivate me to read. On Saturday I’m on the overnight so the plan is to read in the morning and then sleep in the afternoon ready for work that night. I can guarantee I won’t be reading Sunday because I only get 11 hours between shifts and finish at 2am. I’ll really only have time to give a quick update and then to post this on Sunday.

It’s Saturday night and today has been an utter disaster. I haven’t been able to sleep because a piece of my roof blew off this morning. Since neither one of my parents knew what to do, I’ve spent the day making calls and sorting things out. The good news is something has been secured over it so the roof is waterproof and my books are protected. Bad news is there won’t be a permanent fix until Monday, there is a storm due to hit, and the fix will be costing a few thousand. Now I’m going into my 8 hour overnight with no sleep and very grumpy. I’m going to start the shift with an apology for is I get snippy.
